iXL 6-in-1 Learning System

The iXL 6 in 1 System is actually 6 six different devices in one and comes preloaded with software for each of the six applications right out of the box. The six applications include digital reader, game player, note pad, art studio, MP3 player and photo viewer. Similar to the Vtech VReader, the interactive iXL System encourages children who are three to seven years old to learn to read and expand their vocabulary.
One of the biggest advantages that the iXL Fisher Price learning system has over the VReader is its ease of use. The young children will have no problem navigating between the various applications and will surely love the idea of loading their favorite music.
The iXL 6 in 1 System is a digital book reader, digital art book, photo viewer, game player, notepad and MP3 player all rolled into one. The iXL also has the ability to multi-task, allowing children to listen to music and operate other applications at the same time. Adding songs and music is a breeze and can be downloaded to the iXL via the USB connection on any laptop or home computer.
The Fisher Price iXL 6-in-1 Learning System is about the size of a typical children’s book, has a color touch screen with a plastic stylus and attached seven-inch nylon string. Other features include an SD expansion slot so that you can add additional memory, LCD light adjustment sensor, single speaker, headphone jack and volume control.
Parents will appreciate the locking battery compartment for younger children as well as the easy to use navigation menus. The iXL feels very durable and that’s a plus with the target age group of this product.
One convenient feature of the iXL System is that children can draw and color over uploaded photos via the photo viewer application. The story reader has two modes: story and free play. When using the story mode, children cannot use the screen or turn any of the pages. In free play, however, they can flip pages and interact with the story and animations. There are several pre-loaded games including a cooking game and basketball game.
Overall, the Fisher Price iXL 6-in-1 Learning System is a very versatile product at quite a reasonable price. The software that’s included with the device is easy for kids to use and contains a variety of activities that will ensure that the kids are kept busy and not get bored too quickly.
The management software used to load the different games and activities is easy to use for just about anyone and you don’t need an IT degree to be able to use it.
If you’re looking for just a story reader, you may want to look at the VTech VReader. But if you’re looking for a multi-use device that’s easy to use, feature rich and educational, the iXL 6-in-1 System by Fisher Price is probably your better choice.
